History: Originally known as East Yards, Point Richmond was Richmond's central downtown area from the late 19th century until the early 20th century. Point Richmond Historic District is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The neighborhood is dominated by the Chevron refinery, and a very active Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) freight yard, which gives the residents a love-hate relationship with its trains. The BNSF “wig wag signals” are one of only a handful still in existence nationwide.

The neighborhood is divided by a ridge, which separates a "Bay side" and a "Town side." There is a mix of historic Victorians and century-old buildings dating back to before the founding of the town.

Our drive will include Rosie the Riveter Museum (tickets not included), a Drive thru Point Richmond, The Red Oak Victory ship and No-Host lunch at Lara’s Restaurant (Reservation may be required).

SFBA Vintage, Classic and Coffee

Every Saturday morning, rain or shine, a group of great gentlemen from the Peninsula drive their immaculate vintage automobiles to Bagel Street Café in Mountain View for a cup of coffee. Kent Emigh, a member of our group, owns a 1956 300Sc CAB. Since I had a coffee date with my swimming teammates after an early morning session in the same plaza, I frequently dropped by and met them.

It's a rare opportunity to witness a diverse selection of antique automobiles in one parking lot and speak with their friendly owners. So, I have asked them if it is ok for our Mercedes-Benz club members to drive their vintages and classics and share the auto-enthusiasm on February 26, and they are all delighted and looking forward to it.

Kent Emigh had called me and confirmed that he would bring his 19576300Sc CAB to the place and Show-N-Tell on that day.  So bring your vintage and classic Mercedes-Benz or other vintage vehicles, or just come and be a spectator like me.  This is an event you don't want to miss!

Classic cars - Prior to 1997

Vintage cars - Prior to 1972
